Ciao, World! Jacob Devlin here, your host for this leg of the Fall 2016 YA Scavenger Hunt!
Some quick fun facts about your host:
- Pottermore thinks my Patronus is a marsh harrier.
- My first “full-length” writing endeavor was a notebook full of X-Men fan fiction in 2nd grade.
- I have a suspicion that my blood type is Dr. Pepper.
But enough about me, let’s talk about you! You are currently hunting on TEAM ORANGE for the YA Scavenger Hunt.
If you’re looking for my exclusive bonus content, you’ll have to go a little deeper down the rabbit hole…
Deep within this blog tour, I’ve hidden bios, fan castings, and a playlist for each major character of my debut novel, THE CARVER. But, if you’re smooth and Lady Fortune likes you, you might even stumble on an exclusive piece of the cover from my upcoming second novel, THE UNSEEN! But first, spend some time with the fantastic author I’m hosting today.
Here are the rules.
SCAVENGER HUNT PUZZLE RULES
DIRECTIONS: Buried within this blog post, I’ve hidden a number that I’m rather fond of. Collect the favorite numbers of all the authors on TEAM ORANGE, and then add ’em up! Don’t worry, you can use a calculator!
HINT: THE SECRET NUMBER IS HIGHLIGHTED IN ORANGE!
ENTRY FORM: Once you’ve added up all the numbers, make sure you fill out the form here to officially qualify for the grand prize. Only entries that have the correct number will qualify.
RULES: Open internationally, anyone below the age of 18 should have a parent or guardian’s permission to enter. To be eligible for the grand prize, you must submit the completed entry form by October 9, at noon Pacific Time. Entries sent without the correct number or without contact information will not be considered.
On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each participating YA author, you also get a secret number. Add up the numbers, and enter it for a chance to win a major prize–one lucky winner will receive at least one book from each author on my team in the hunt! But play fast. This contest will only be online until noon PST on October 9th!
There are many contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the ORANGE TEAM but there are others you can hunt for as well! Check out each team for a chance to win several different sets of signed books.
If you’d like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.
Hokay. Now that all the rules are out of the way, let me introduce you to our author. Drumroll, please, for the wonderfully talented…
ALEXANDRA SIROWY!
(Note from Jacob: Get a look at that awesome, cover! Something tells me that girl in the water is hiding a world of secrets. Quick question: how many beads can you see on that cover? Like, 25? 26?)
About THE TELLING:
To enter, you need to write down my favorite number, find all the other numbers on TEAM ORANGE, add them up, and you’ll have the secret code to enter for the grand prize!
Thank you so much for visiting my website! While you’re here don’t forget to enter the Rafflecopter bonus contest I am running exclusively during the YA Scavenger Hunt. Win a signed copy of THE CARVER, a Peter Pan Christmas ornament, or an awesome Thomas Kinkade Pinocchio “magic” coffee mug. Free stuff, yeah!
Be sure to check out Mary Crockett’s giveaway as well.
I’ve deemed it a pleasure to host this part of YASH! Stay and chat a bit while you’re here. Comment and tell me about your favorite amusement park attraction… it can be a Disneyland ride, a food at your local fair, a carnival game you actually won… the sky’s the limit!
Then, when you’re ready for your next stop, buckle up and zoom on over to visit Gabrielle Pendergast!
LOL, AWESOME DUDE!

And I love roller coasters! I also love the ride that takes you up at least 3 stories high and then drops you straight down. Those rides are so fun!

I haven’t read her books. I am totally a wimp when it comes to rides, so I tend to avoid amusement parks to not be judged for my wimpiness from friends and family. The one park I can get on board for is Disneyland. But it’s a toss up between It’s a Small World and Grizzly River Run.

There’s a rollercoaster in a theme park in my state that goes 95 miles per hour. I once rode it sitting in the front seat, and I swear, it felt like my eyelashes were being glued to my face.

I haven’t read her book yet, but it sounds interesting. My favorite amusement park ride has been the Dragon Challenge in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I got to do the single rider line and rode the coaster back to back until I was sick.
